keiichi felt a momentary pang of guilt. he had been much too preoccupied with his own thoughts that it had completely slipped his mind. he vaguely remembered something being said by mion yesterday, but he had dipped out of school much too quickly to catch all of it. he didn’t even walk home with rena, and he was sure she felt resentment from that too.
he stopped himself from making a face. cruel. was he really the one who was being cruel? she lied to him. they all had. they were hiding something and he knew it, if only he could figure out what. he hadn’t slept a wink the night before, and the deep set circles under his eyes definitely showed it. he was certain he’d heard a small tapping on his window…
“ sorry, rena… i didn’t mean to forget about it. but i don’t know if i’ll be able to stay… ”
❝…..❞ her gaze saddened with pity. it was sad to know keiichi forgotten about today’s club activity so easily. especially because everyone was looking forward to it. keiichi had been really hyped up. rena won’t forget how excited he was when mion told them about the next penalty game. so how could it be that he forgotten it already? it seemed so odd , and it only helped to increase rena’s concern for her friend even more. whatever is causing it, he must be so distracted by his own mind that he forgets what excites him the most. listening to the higurashi cries, rena let out a sigh. but immediately looked up at keiichi, expressing her own concern.
❝ mii-chan won’t be happy if you won’t be a part of today’s club activity, we’re gonna play hide and seek at the dam construction site. are you sure you can’t join keiichi-kun? are you really? really? ❞ that’s it , just hearing that and feeling so much rejection from whom she loves the most, it hurt rena’s heart even more and there was nothing she could do but cry to herself later. all the while as she walked along keiichi to school she started to be silent, dwelling in her own thoughts.
