keiichi’s chest seemed to tighten. why was she always right there waiting for him? he hadn’t honestly thought about it before… but it was like she was always there. watching. he bit into the side of his cheek forcefully, trying to reason with himself. rena was his friend. she only had good intentions for him.

he gave her the best smile he could manage, gripping the strap of his bag tight.
“ any p-plans for after school today? ”
His response was enough for her to be aware, it proved to her immediately that he was still behaving strange, kinda denying her kindness.
although keiichi tried to be nice with her as they started walking to the school., rena sensed the tone of his voice and somewhat hostility and it pierced right through her chest. was it bad to wait here every morning and walk with him to school together? would he feel better if she wasn’t here? would he finally feel free of his worries? it hurt rena to think about that and the sound of the morning cicadas were the only answer to her thoughts. it seemed like even them were sad.
